2014 Year in Review

At the end of each year everyone reflects. We remember challenges and successes, we celebrate the moments that connect us, we remain grateful for the people who we are connected to and we hope that the beginning of another year helps us to give more, to do more and to keep on providing exciting promotions and games of chance to our many players and agents.

2014 was dubbed the ‘year of the winner’, or what we call ‘Winners Fever’, simply because we saw so many more winners. Players old and new claimed prizes totaling $5, 969, 131 dollars, all possible because of the opportunities which were created by the Dominica National Lottery.

So, how did this winning frenzy begin? It all started with the introduction of additional bet types for Big 4 in February, a much anticipated addition to the game. Players loved that with just $1, $5000 can be won, but they wanted more; more options, more winnings, even with just two numbers. They asked, we listened, we acted;

we provided pair bets and first 3, last 3 betting options, not just to satisfy our players but also because we have a responsibility to provide games with a healthy life span; this coupled with the launch of a lunchtime draw for Big 4 in April played a critical role in ensuring that we met our players demands and kept to our 2014 theme “More Chances”.

Super 6 made history this year in so many ways. The awareness to the game produced five winners, one from Dominica between the months of January to December. Mr. Joseph Samuel of Grande-Bay Village won $270, 000. We took to the streets to ask players and non -players what they would do if they won the Jackpot. We heard comments which reminded us of the important role we play in providing games of chance, for in doing so we change the lives of so many persons by creating opportunities for them to realize their dreams.

We made it easy for players to win lots of Flat Screen TVs and Cash during the months of May and June. Big 4 “easy score” promotion gave participants the opportunity to watch world cup action on one of thirty televisions, and to add further excitement we added a second chance component which entailed wining cash, up to $9, 000 Cash on non-winning tickets, again keeping to our 2014 theme “More Chances”.

Summer time was “All about you”, our players. We brought to life a promotion which focused on all aspects of what anyone would want during summertime; shopping, trips and weekends at beautiful resorts. It was a huge success; players won trips, weekend getaways and vouchers.

Sustaining good business relations is vital for the success of any establishment and we have been fortunate to be associated with a group of businessmen and women who share our vision. All across the island we have placed agencies in strategic locations for convenience and ease of play. We have seen an increase in our agent base and we know that this is as a result of the emphasis we place on maintaining a great agent base.

Ham, Rum, Supermarket shopping vouchers, shopping sprees; all ingredients of our 2014 “Ham & Rum” promotion. The difference this year? We asked our players what more they wanted as part of the annual promotion, the majority ruled, 95% of our player base asked for supermarket shopping vouchers, and so we did it, we included vouchers and went one step further by offering four supermarket shopping sprees valued at $1000 each.

We remain strong advocates for the development of young persons through sports and education. Our relationship with the Dominica Lotteries Commission continues to pave the way for our youth to experience bigger accomplishments and higher education. We contributed $1,678, 166 dollars to sports, culture and good causes, made possible by the increased awareness to the Dominica National Lottery by way of promotions, a growing agent base with motivated agents, increased player spend and game enhancements.

To our agents we say a big thank you; to our players we extend gratitude and to our staff we say you’re the best. Happy New Year everyone.
